Gifts to the Carer
Available in paperback and Kindle worldwide.
The Heart’s Inheritance: Gifts to the Carer was born from my own experience of caring for my mother through dementia, alongside my sister.
Caring can ask more of us than we ever imagined. It can be exhausting, heartbreaking, frustrating and deeply challenging. But woven through those difficult days can also be unexpected moments of connection, humour, tenderness and love.
This book is a reflection on those moments — and on the gifts I discovered within a journey I would never have chosen, but which changed me in ways I could never have expected.
A Book for Those Who Care

If you are caring for someone you love, you may know how quickly caring can begin to reshape your world.
The Heart’s Inheritance is not a guide to doing caregiving perfectly. It is an invitation to pause and recognise the humanity within the experience — including your own.
Through personal reflections drawn from my family’s journey with dementia, I explore some of the unexpected gifts that can exist alongside grief and difficulty: deeper connection, moments of laughter, lessons in patience, changing relationships, and the quiet ways love can reveal itself.
My hope is that these reflections help other carers feel seen, understood and perhaps a little less alone in their own journey.
